Company creates restomod of Mercedes 600 with modern S-Class technology (Photo: S-Klub LA)
The S-Klub LA, a vehicle design studio from Southern California (USA), created a restomod using the body of a 1971 Mercedes 600 and the full modern technology of the S-Class.
The Mercedes 600 became an iconic car, notably as Pope Paul VI’s papal car and as Elvis Presley’s limo. But this restomod from S-Klub LA combined that remarkable body with the full hardware of a new Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance 2024.
Brought in by the founder of S-Klub LA, Ed Sarkisyan, with just 6,400 km on it, the brand-new Mercedes 600 was soon sent to the “operating room” for a true “chassis transplant.”
As a result, the 1971 600 body, which had been rescued after years of abandonment in a Texas barn, was carefully restored and then mounted onto the ultra-modern platform of the S63.

Now, under the hood, the 600 features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and an electric motor, producing over 800 horsepower.
The suspension, brakes, and all the electronics were also transplanted, including the MBUX, massaging seats, and the entire range of driver assistance systems.
On the outside, the 600 retains the appearance of an old car, but upon opening the doors, you’re greeted by a fully digital and contemporary cockpit instead of the classic wooden-detailed dashboard.
But the exterior also received a modern touch. For starters, the body was widened to accommodate the massive track width of the AMG.

At the front, the headlights stand out. The original 600 housings were 3D scanned, digitized, and redesigned to house the modern LED units from the S63, along with functional air intakes.
The car was finished in a deep green color, complemented by exposed colored carbon fiber on the roof, mirrors, and aerodynamic additions.
The vehicle, nicknamed Final Boss, was unveiled to the public at SEMA 2025, but it did receive some criticism. On S-Klub LA’s social media, many internet users disapproved of some of the aesthetic choices made for the design.

The main targets of the criticism were an enormous fixed JDM style wing at the rear and an oversized Mercedes emblem planted in the center of the front grille.
Either way, S-Klub LA definitely made a statement with the ambitious vehicle. Above all, it’s a testament to the studio’s technical capabilities. This is because, apparently, everything works, from the electric windows to the hybrid powertrain.
